We, as aviation professionals, really don't like bringing up bad news. We showed at the Lakeland Sun 'n Fun two years ago. It is heartbreaking for bad things happen to good people, and especially for the good folks we met at the show then. The news images are devastating. We wished and prayed we could be there, but the economics are just not good. The people at this show are just wonderful. When next we come, we will bring more soft drinks than brochures.

Sun 'n Fun 2011. This is just tragic...

We are not going into all the other articles from the AOPA, etc. The whole thing is just too, too, much to deal with. I lived in Jacksonville, FL for 8 years, and got really used to the 3:00 to 3:30 thunderstorms out at MJB Cecil Field. When I went home, the street could be flooded. In the Navy, we used 4-point tie downs (with chains!). When we got close to about 2pm, we took all the planes that would fit into the hangar- a pretty big one. But we also had to leave a few out on the ramp. If it really looked bad, we doubled the chains, as we only had four hard-points for tie down. If a tornado was in the news, we went to 12-point tie downs- 3 chains per hard-point. Keep in mind, the S3A had stowable wings for aircraft carrier hangaring...no lift from the storm winds.

The military expends a lot of manpower and money to protect 22Million dollar aircraft. Wouldn't you spend a lot less to protect your investment in both money, flying, and joy?

Safe flying!

And that's all we will say about that...

Except that, with the unusually active La Nina (Webmaster note- can't do that little squiggle(~) ;-), this is going to be a weird weather year. More hurricanes, tornados, and probably, thunderstorms... We can help keep your airplane on the ground.
